Integrally molded EPP packaging is widely adopted for turnover and export packaging of precision instruments and optical inspection equipment for its shock resistance and reusability.
However, poor process control by manufacturers may cause dusting, permanent deformation, dents, burrs and other molding defects on EPP packaging boxes and EPP inserts.

For high-precision products such as optical lenses and sensors, minor defects may lead to dust contamination, positioning failure and collision risk during transit. Many buyers and engineers focus on how to avoid defects of EPP precision instrument packaging during sampling.
Dusting is the top concern for cleanroom clients. It usually comes from two sources: peeling of film or paint coating applied in post-processing; or insufficient bead fusion caused by poor molding process, leading to bead shedding.
✅Solutions: Choose textured EPP packaging boxes. Mold texture is formed integrally without film or paint, eliminating coating peeling. Fumei strictly controls steam molding parameters to achieve sufficient bead fusion and improve structural integrity. Virgin EPP beads are adopted to reduce debris.
EPP packaging may collapse after repeated stacking and circulation, which will lose positioning function and cause product collision. Root causes include improper foaming ratio, uneven wall thickness, lack of reinforcing ribs and insufficient cooling time resulting in residual internal stress.
✅Solutions: In DFM structural design, Fumei engineers select proper EPP foaming ratio according to product weight and stacking load. Reinforcing ribs are added between cavities and wall thickness is optimized. Adequate cooling is arranged after molding to release internal stress and improve creep resistance, so the EPP packaging boxes resist collapse after repeated turnover.
Short shot, sink marks, edge burrs and obvious weld lines often appear in complex multi-cavity inserts, mainly due to poor mold venting and improper draft angle.
✅Solutions: Fumei owns in-house mold workshop. Vent layout is optimized in mold development, with precision 0.2mm micro vents. Reasonable draft angle prevents tearing during demolding. CNC machining and mold texturing reduce surface defects. Steam pressure and holding time are fine-tuned in trial molding to eliminate short shots and sink marks, ensuring uniform texture and clean surface of textured EPP packaging boxes.
As an EPP manufacturer in Dongguan, Fumei New Materials implements full-process quality control: drawing evaluation, mold development, raw material incoming inspection, steam molding and finished product reliability test. Sampling tests including drop test, vibration test and cyclic compression test are conducted before delivery for all Fumei EPP packaging (textured EPP packaging boxes, multi-cavity inserts, anti-static EPP turnover boxes).
