Custom ETPU Pet Balls | Dual-Material Foam Technology to Help Pet Brands Develop Differentiated Interactive Toys

The domestic pet consumption market keeps expanding, yet the pet toy segment is trapped in fierce homogenized competition. A large number of elastic toys are made of ordinary TPE, rubber or tennis-ball-style materials with overlapping functions and similar selling points, making it hard for brands to build distinctive product identities. Many pet product brands have turned to ETPU popcorn foam as an upgraded material for new launches, leveraging its inherent material advantages to stand out from competitors. However, whether the strengths of ETPU can be fully delivered depends on the manufacturer’s accumulated foam molding expertise, rather than simple OEM processing.

As a source factory running both EPP reusable packaging and ETPU elastic product lines, Fumei New Materials transfers years of experience in precision molding, internal stress management and dimensional tolerance control from industrial foam applications to pet toy development. ETPU refers to thermoplastic polyurethane physical foam pellets.

Countless individual elastic pellets are thermally fused into one integrated structure inside the mold without glue bonding. Compared with traditional pet toy materials, its properties fit interactive chewing scenarios perfectly. When bitten and squeezed, the ball deforms elastically to disperse biting force, so it is less likely to crack or shed fine debris, lowering the risk of accidental ingestion for pets.

Formulations can be tuned to achieve balanced softness and firmness — it will not chip teeth like hard rubber balls, nor tear easily like soft EVA toys. The pellet structure delivers lively, unpredictable rebound with random bounce trajectories, which keeps dogs engaged and prolongs playtime. Its closed-cell structure does not absorb water; it floats for lakeside or pool play. The dense surface is easy to rinse clean from mud and saliva, and resists odor and bacterial buildup.

Unlike factories that only focus on ETPU products, our engineering team understands the molding boundaries of both EPP and ETPU. Technical review starts at the early project stage. Upon receiving your requirements, we evaluate manufacturability based on your brand positioning, target dog breeds and application scenarios. We analyze spherical wall thickness, groove depth of textures, vent layout and fusion boundaries, predict potential defects such as incomplete fusion, material shortage and bulging, and propose structural revisions in advance.

By adjusting pre-expansion ratio, steam pressure and holding & cooling cycles, we produce multiple prototype versions with different rebound levels: mild versions for puppies, general versions for adult dogs and tougher versions for heavy chewers. Custom options include various sizes, color combinations, anti-slip textures and embossed brand logos on the sphere, helping you launch exclusive products and avoid generic plain round balls.

All production steps are carried out in our standardized in-house workshop, equipped with dedicated ETPU pre-expansion systems, automatic molding machines and intelligent drying ovens for stress relief. Each finalized product is assigned a fixed process parameter set and kept with a sealed reference sample.

We adopt multi-stage quality control: raw material inspection upon incoming delivery, first-article verification against the sealed sample after mold setup, periodic patrol checks during mass production and final sampling before shipment. Density, rebound, appearance and color difference are tightly stabilized. Material test reports are available to meet RoHS, REACH and other international environmental standards for domestic e-commerce and cross-border listings.

We support flexible production arrangements for both R&D and recurring bulk orders. At the new-product development phase, rapid sampling and small-batch trial runs are available for field testing, market research and certification. Once the design is confirmed, stable production capacity supports continuous repeat orders, and we arrange production schedules according to your sales timeline.

Thanks to our dual EPP & ETPU layout, customers who also need reusable packaging can source multiple foam products from one supplier to reduce communication costs with multiple vendors.

For foam customization, consistent craftsmanship is the core competitiveness. Fumei New Materials welcomes pet brands, cross-border merchants and design teams to send samples for testing or arrange factory visits. Let’s develop more competitive ETPU interactive pet toys together.
